Race Proposition

Emil Zátopek Ostrava Golden Marathon, Half Marathon, and a 10 km run

Race Day Schedule

Check-in on October 24, 2025 (Day Before the Race)

You can pick up your bib number, T-shirt, and starter pack. If you are unable to collect them yourself, an authorized person may be able to pick them up on your behalf with a copy of your ID. The bib number is provided with a timing chip on the back, embedded in a foam adhesive strip. The chip is permanently attached to the back of the race number. Please do not remove it and wear your number on your chest!

 

Check-in on October 25, 2025 (Race Day)

7:00 – 9:45 AM (Exact location to be confirmed) – Check-in for all races. Check-in for the 10 km race, half marathon, and marathon must be completed at least 45 minutes before the start of each respective race.

Start/Finish Line Organization

The marathon and half marathon will be administered in waves according to pacer times. Elite runners start from the starting line, while others start 4 meters behind them,in accordance with performance abilities.

All other races are set to be kicked off with a mass start.

Entry to the finish area will be restricted to authorized persons (staff and runners) only.

After crossing the finish line, runners must proceed through the MIX zone, outside the competition track.

In each race, a cyclist is to be appointed by the organizer to ride ahead of the first runner and behind the last runner.

Refreshment Stations

Refreshment stations will be placed on the side of the road, approximately every 5 km, andanother one at the finish line.

Pacers

The pacer times for the half marathon and marathon are to be announced.

Time Limits

Due to road closures, the organizer guarantees a traffic-free course only within the time limits.

The race must be completed within 6 hours of its officially stated start.

Runners who do not reach the 21 km mark within 3 hours after crossing the start line must stop running and will be asked to leave the racecourse.

All participants run at their own risk.

During the race, runners must follow the instructions of the security staff, city police, Czech police, referees, and authorized event personnel at all times.

A sweeper bus will enter the course at 2:00 PM to transport runners who exceed the time limit and will be taken the finish area.

Bag Storage

Bag storage will be available and provided at the City Stadium. The exact location is set to be announced.

Facilities

Changing rooms, toilets, and showers will be available in the start/finish area.

Toilets will be available along the course according to regulations.

Parking

Parking in front of the City Stadium is not allowed on race day.

Attending the even via public transportation is highly recommended.

Parking will be available near the Ostravar Arena, with fees determined by the arena-inherent parking machines (not covered or administered by the organizer).

Accommodation

Runners seeking accommodation can stay at nearby hotels, including hotels like Clarion and Puls. More details will be available on the race website.

Chip-administered Timing

Race times will be recorded using chip technology. The individual chips are embedded in race bibs and are non-returnable. Race bibs, thus, must be worn on the chest, not the back. Please, do not attempt to peel off, fold, bend, or damage the chip as this may prevent us from recording the accurate timing.

Timing will be recorded at both the start and the finish. The official time (from the signalization given by firing the starting gun) is set to determine the overal rankings in accoradance with athletic regulations. The REAL TIME (from crossing the start mat) is also to be displayed in the results table.

Refreshments

Refreshments will be available approximately every 5 km. Stations will provide water, isotonic drinks, bananas, chocolate, raisins, and salt.

Selected runners (to be announced) may place their own drinks at refreshment stations.

Bottles must be labeled with the runner’s number and placed at the station before the race starts. Bottles must be handed over to organizers by 6:30 AM on race day (collection location to be announced).

At the finish line

Marathon and half marathon runners will have access to a special refreshment area. All 10 km runners will receive drinks, bananas, and pastries.

Prizes

Material Prizes

The top three runners in each category will receive material prizes.

Financial Prizes

Financial awards for the marathon and half marathon will follow and be paid out in accordance with the World Athletics (WA) regulations.

Results & Diplomas

Official results with rankings will be sent via SMS after the race. Complete results will then be available online with access to the inforrmation provided via the www.zatopekmarathon.com link.

The diplomas (including name, ranking, and final time) will be available for download on the race website as well. Therefore, please ensure that you enter accurate and complete information in the registration form.

Medical Services and Staff

Emergency medical services will be available throughout the race at the start, finish, every refreshment station, and along the course. The medical team is led by Dr. Kateřina Kišková and her staff. The emergency number will be pinned in designated areas around the stadium and included in the starter pack as well.

Childcare Services

Free professional childcare will be available for participants during the race. The location is set to be announced.

Additional Organization

Race instructions (parking, arrival routes, public transport, stadium map, etc.) will be emailed out to all participants 14 days before the race and published on the race’s information channels.

The main stadium entrance will be open. However, due to the race start/finish, we recommend entering through the back gate from Ostravar Arena or the "Bolt Gate" leading to the warm-up stadium near the Hotel Clarion area.

Rules/ Regulations

The race follows World Athletics (WA) rules. The organizer reserves the right to conduct doping tests during the 2nd Emil Zátopek Golden Marathon Ostrava. Participation in the race implies agreement to undergo the said doping testing and only an authorized doping officer with proper accreditation may conduct the test in a designated closed room.

According to WA rules, race officials may likewise request runners to present their running shoes for inspection. In some cases, organizers may confiscate shoes for further examination.

Runners under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or other intoxicating substances will not be allowed to start.

The use of any transportation (including public transport) during the race is prohibited.

No vehicles, bicycles, scooters, etc., are allowed on the course during the race.

Course cutting and route changes are not allowed.

Pacing by unauthorized persons (including coaches) is considered illegal assistance under WA Rule 144 and may lead to disqualification.

Written protests or disagreement claims regarding the race and its results must be submitted to the head referee within 30 minutes after the official results announcement. Late protests or claims will not be taken into account.

Complaints related to participation and organization must be submitted in writing to the organizer’s address or via email to info@zatopekmarathon.cz within 7 days after the event.

The organizer will respond to complaints within 30 days.
